WTF?! Sleeping Position at T3

In a show of ultimate confidence in the cleanliness of Changi Airport T3, this man lay snoring at the departure area. From what I can see, he's not doing anything wrong. Oh well, other than leaving drool stains on the carpet. heheh. Welcome to Singapore!

MLM, Can We Make Money?

I spent my Saturday recently at a Networking Seminar which I wasn't so sure what it will be about in the first place. The missus had bought the tickets and yeah, I've got not much of a choice. She had successfully sold 3 hours of my life for a mere SGD$15... :(

The first hour was spent by the guest speakers talking about their reasons taking up this business. Both said that they need the extra money, having more time to be at home, financial freedom etc etc. Another hour or so was spent on the recognition ceremony, and about 30 minutes on their actual product. The last 30 minutes was spent elaborating about why their business should be taken up.

I've been very skeptical all my life about MLMs, the way it works and where the money comes from. And this stance was no different when I went for it. The picture painted was rosy and such and I was surprised to find the seminar was very much like a party. There were people receiving flowers, gifts and such to recognise their different levels of achievement (eg. diamond, platinum, leaders club, etc etc) and everyone seems to know each other. They were hugging and shaking hands congratulating each other. They seemed to be making money and boy, do I envy them. Each group would cheer on for their mentor/upline and congratulate them.

"Go Diamond!" was the much favoured statement that evening.

As to all MLMs, there is always the element of persistence, and I hated that. Surprisingly these guys do it in an OKAY manner. I wasn't at all flustered and I felt good though there were attempts by them to keep me coming to their seminars. They kept insisting for me to go to another seminar some time soon, and even took it up a level by asking me to head on up to Malaysia to attend a 'Very Important', 'You must not miss it' seminar.

Mom was once a member of an MLM scheme. Though she made good money, about SGD$1K a month, the amount of enemies, backstabbing, rejection and time was too much for her to take. I could hear her talk to my father about her business every now and then, saying that the money isn't worth the effort and backlash. Friends would steal her potential downline through underhand tactics and her upline was selfish by keeping them for their own interests. She was basically taken advantage of and all her efforts of holding small introduction sessions at home, investing in tools has gone to waste.

Seeing her going down was something I could not forget. And thus led me to having a permenant downplay of all MLMs. The money is there, but would you trade so much of your emotions just to earn a few hundred dollars? I'm definitely not ready for it.

I'm keen to learn about experiences from the normal guy/girl on this issue. Have you actually earn an excess of $500 from MLMs a month consistently? How far have you gone to go where you are today? How much effort have you put in? How have your relationship with your friends, spouse, relatives changed after you took up the plan? I'm dying to hear your comments.

It Was Raining Hailstones This Afternoon

It was gloomy all afternoon over in camp and I was kinda expecting the rain having brought along my raincoat. But it didn't rain and heaved a sigh of relief as the vehicle I'm driving needs to get its wipers replaced. Nevertheless, it did rain over in the central parts of Singapore.

The National Environment Agency confirmed that hailstones were reported in central Singapore between 3.15pm and 3.45pm. They were seen mainly in Bishan, Toa Payoh and Ang Mo Kio.

It's believed the hailstones fell for about 20 minutes before subsiding. The last hailstone incident was reported in July 2007.

Hailstones form in intense thunderstorm clouds. Such clouds develop when there is strong convection, which occur all year round in the tropics. Generally, the hailstones would have been melted before they reach the ground. However, in the presence of a strong downdraft in an intense thunderstorm, the hailstones can be brought to the ground rapidly without melting.

Different Ways to Get Your Baby Tooth Pulled Out

Remember when you were young, you used to have baby teeth? And once in a while you had one of them loose and you fooled around with it, jiggling it about with your fingers and playing it with your tongue. Its as if you're in a dilemma whether or not to pull the tooth out or not imagining the pain that comes with it. Seeing these videos brings back fond memories of the many methods I tried to pull my loose tooth out.

This is a cute video of a girl pulling out her tooth using the doorknob method. This has got to be the most popular method.

Next up is the fridge door method. Personally, I've never tried this method. My fridge door was loaded with magnets at that point of time and I never bothered to put them down. This girl is brave!

Or perhaps you can try tying your tooth to a puppy and let her run! And no, I doubt this will work with a hamster. You can try this with a cat though. :)

How about pulling it out with a remote controlled Hummer? You need guts to push the joystick forward or perhaps get someone to help you with it.

OR *DRUMROLL...... How about getting your own brother to pull it out for you! I bet you'll be squirming in your seat looking at this one. Gosh!

NTU May Not Continue its 3-man Dorms

They say two's a company, three's a crowd.. NTU found the maximum number of students per hostel room after all after reversing its decision to implement the three to a room hostels. How can these students ever manage to study in a 3-man room?
ChannelNewsAsia understands that during a meeting with student representatives on 23 March, NTU's Dean of Students, Associate Professor Lok Tat Seng, had assured them that the plan will not go ahead.

Professor Lok is expected to make an announcement in the student paper, the Nanyang Chronicle next week.

NTU's reversal is likely due to widespread student unhappiness.

3 Macbooks, 3 sets of speakers, 3 beds, 3 tables, 3 pairs of slippers, 3 towels, 3... you get the point. The only benefit I see is you can set up a 3v3 COD4 multiplayer game easily against the neighbouring rooms.
“The distance-value system is good but rigid and inaccurate as it is measured by the linear distance from school,” said Davier Yoon, 22, a second-year Art, Design and Media student. “For example, those leaving in Punggol have fewer points than those in Pasir Ris although they take much longer to travel to school.”

Yet, HAS (Hall Admission Scheme) was intended to be better than the old Points Allocation System, which was scrapped as it encouraged students to join activities for points rather than out of interest.

- Digital Nanyang Chronicle

Reading through news articles from the 'inside' is an eye opener and I think this particular article (see above) is an eye-opener. Got to know of HAS which is a scheme designed to categorise which students is more deserving of a room. I just hope NTU clears the mess up before I enter school.

With NTU, I take the lead! (GO NTU propaganda!)

Another JI member detained under ISA

Another JI member has been detained under the ISA with the order issued three days ago (read excerpt below). I'm a pessimist by nature and I kinda sense something fishy going on around town. Its an intuition and find I these events so coincidental. Mas Selamat escaped, and not long after, another JI member detained.

Perhaps they're picking the JI members out one by one like a sniper picks his quarry sequentially amongst the group? Nobody knows. (I just loveeeee conspiracy theories) One thing for sure, they've released a rehabilitated JI member, Anis Mohamad Mansor, after 4 years in detention.
Rijal Yadri Jumari, 27, was arrested in February for his involvement in the terrorist group, the Home Affairs Ministry said on Sunday.

The ISA order against Rijal was issued three days ago.

The Ministry said Rijal is known to have been working with foreign JI elements. It's believed they were in discussion to regroup and revive the Ji's clandestine network.

....

Also on Sunday, the Home Affairs Ministry said another ISA detainee, Anis Mohamad Mansor, was released on 10 February when his Order of Detention expired.

It said Anis, who has been detained since February 2004, had cooperated with investigations and responded well to rehabilitation, which included religious counselling.

How to Download MP3s Using Google

There is a way to download MP3s using Google and yes, I'm not kidding you. This is not a gimmick. Although it is not entirely idiot proof, I'm sure you'll manage to get to your first download within 5 mintues. All you need to do is google the following:

intitle:"index.of"(mp3) yoursongtitlehere

eg. intitle:"index.of"(mp3) stop.and.stare

If you need video instructions, I've included a youtube video too.

Thanks to a buddy of mine for the heads up. This method can be used to locate other files such as .avi, .mp4, etc etc too!
