June, Hive of Activities.

I am sooooo excited for June to come! There are so many things to do, yet there's only one month to work with! I've got so many exciting projects to do, I don't know where to start! heeeheee... (Perhaps I should ask the federal reserve for some funding)

I can't disclose the projects that I'm working on as of yet due to its (insert word here) nature. But what I can tell you is that it will be one of the few electronic projects entirely designed by yours truly, and that its gonna be freaking exciting! I am such a geek la. One of the projects would be to glue up the ferring on my bike which is starting to fall apart. Yep, like seriously, it is falling apart. Just because its the ferring, it will be the last thing I wanna work on. heh.

After sending afternoon buddy off to some mass orgy with her friends at an island, I've got a Sentosa trip to look forward to! Weeeeeeeee.... Happy lah kan.

Can't contain the excitement anymore! Gotta start my research, get the parts from whatever I can lay my hands on, and start making it!

TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!

Small Bike, Big Load.

One of the few reasons why I bought the Honda Wave was because of its durability and no lack of storage space. You have the option of installing a box in the rear, a basket between you and the handlebar, and a 2nd basket just below the headlights. And if you still need some more space, you can even install side boxes!

From carrying huge water tumblers, to laptops... From weekend groceries, to stacks of books... All while carrying a pillion mind you. Sometimes I wonder how much my Honda Wave can take before it fails.

Its nearly a year since I first bought the bike, and it has changed the way I travel positively. Anywhere in this sunny island is within reach in under 45 minutes. And there is no place, this bike can't go. heheh.

Pressure = Force / Area.

They see me as Superman.
Study, family, friends, expectations.

When I tell them I've got a problem,
The usual remarks would be, "I'm sure you can do it! You always do!"

Wished there was someone out there (other than Daddy) who would say,
"How can I help? Do you need advice? What can I do for you?"

They fail to see,
that even Superman needs a person to go to,
for comfort and support.

I Love You Anyway.

Its ten pm,
and you're late again.
And I can understand,
what kept you so long.
Now look at you,
wearing that shirt again.
Don't you realise
how ugly that thing is...

But even so, I love you anyway.

Swine Flu Touches Down in Singapore.

Its just a matter of time before the Swine Flu hits Singapore shores. And the time was yesterday, 26th May 2009. Here's a write-up plucked out from Channelnewsasia;
Singapore has confirmed its first case of Influenza A (H1N1).

The patient, a 22-year-old Singapore Management University student, is currently being treated at the Communicable Disease Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and is in stable condition.

The Singaporean woman was in New York from...
Its not the end of the world guys. The situation is under control, and we can still head out for our favourite Char Kway Teow and Ben & Jerry's Ice-Cream at Dempsey. Yes Swine Flu is communicable, but we will pull through! Just like the SARS period. Jia You Singapore! =)

Minah Biker.

The minah biker is a term coined to the ladies who ride a bike, or rides pillion on the boyfriend's /husband's/brother's bike. I came across this particularly intriguing livejournal blog, and would love to share with you readers some of the contents.

"Here is where I touch on Riding Posture – This is where you Minahs come into the picture. No matter how much your mat does to “potong angin”, if you as his pillion do not sit properly, in the most “potong angin” way possible, all his efforts would just go to waste. This is the proper way of sitting, so as to cause as little resistance as possible"

"In fact, when my Mat goes at 70km/h, I can actually reach into my bag for my mp3 player, choose a playlist, and plug in the earphones for myself and him! But at high speeds, it a big NO NO. From the picture above, you can see that the wind goes over your Mat perfectly, but hits you right smack in your face."

Coco Meows, "Its Getting Hot In Here!"

It was hot today, and Coco was making a hell lot of a noise in the house. Meowing, and calling for attention. I called her into the room and gave the customary belly rub, but still, she kept meowing. Urgh. After a few hours of pointless meowing, it suddenly became quiet.

I saw her sprawled on the ground near to the toilet, and thought hey, maybe this cat is feeling warm! I need to cool her down! And so I placed my laundry basket in between myself and the fan, and called for her.

"COCO!" *snaps fingers*

And she came galloping to my room and lo and behold! She immediately took to the laundry basket and made herself comfortable. lolx. With all that fur covering her, I never thought she'd be feeling warm. heh. Have a good night's sleep Coco!

Dead and Gone.

I turn my head to the east
I don't see nobody by my side
I turn my head to the west
Still nobody in sight
So I turn my head to the north,
Swallow that pill
That they call pride
The old me is dead and gone,
The new me will be alright

The Less We Speak, The Less We Hurt.

I always envy smooth talkers, social people and presenters. Words flow like water, and it seems so easy for them to convey a message, to be understood and to carry across a point to their audience. And I aspire to be fluent in my conversations some day.
I seek help from a particular individual who is well-versed in the art of presenting, picking up women and being the life of a party. His advice was simple. Its either you have it, or not. If you have it, its good, it can be sharpened. If you don't, its best you remain what you are, and choose only the best words to be said. Its just how we're designed. Those who can talk, need to learn how to stop talking, while those who can't, have to choose the right words to say to make their very few words worth waiting for.

After close to half a year being a Yes Man, I've not even neared the socialite that I wished I was. I am still dead old boring me. haha. Yes, I am adventurous, I do very strange things and I am fun-loving, but when I'm in a group, I'm reserved. Its just how I am designed. I operate alone, or in pairs, and have never thrived in a massive group.

Whatever I am designed to be, I am fortunate that I am made this way. As the saying goes, "The Less We Speak, The Less We Hurt."

Day of Passes.

Semester 2 results are out, and I have to admit that I fear my results would not go in my favour considering I despise Engineering Math and Semiconductors. I obtained B- and C respectively for my 2 weakest modules for the semester, and I'm one very happy man! Weeee~

I never thought I could pass the paper considering its extreme difficulty and hard to understand concepts. Nevertheless, with Allah's blessings, and the prayers of my loved ones, I managed to pull through. Time to look forward to a fulfilling Year 3!
In other news, my bike passed inspection! I did the inspection over at Vicom Bukit Batok and it was all over in less than 10 minutes. Not that its very difficult to pass, but its always a good thing to pass something on the first try. And so, man and machine pass their respective tests and can go about their daily lives with a big wide smile. =)

The Rebound Guy/Girl.

What's a rebound guy?

First hand experience is always best in these situations. Googling this word leads to several explanations of which will be listed below.

- ...a man-whore who girls only come to for comfort??
- Two things determine whether a guy is a rebound relationship or not. If it has been less than three months since the last breakup and the guy seems really clingy, then it is probably rebound. - ...a rebound guy is the guy that a girl goes out with just after breaking up with a very close bf that shes maybe been with for a very long time n needs another guy to just keep her mind off her x-bf or to make it seem to her x-bf like shes moved on when she really hasnt.... yet.
- Yahoo Answers

Hhmm...if you're always trying to be the "knight in shining armor" and you like it, that tells me quite a lot about you, your ideas about relationships and the women you are likely to date. It suggests that you see yourself in a "savior" role, one that requires women to be either dependent......
-eharmony.com

A totally new phenomenon introduced to me by a friend of mine, but I'd guess its the norm everywhere else in the world. Just another challenge you face when you're a young adult. haiz. Gotta analyse the relationship you're in, and hey, you might just be a rebound guy/girl. You mistake it for true love, and there you go, he/she just leaves you in snap. tadaaaa...

So be very careful readers, or you might have just bought tickets to a very emotional roller-coaster ride! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee~

Angels and Demons.

I'd give Angels and Demons, featuring Tom Hanks, 8.5/10 Stars!!! I won't do a review of this movie. My verdict, go watch, and its money well-spent. And after this, there's Transformers, Terminator Salvation and Night at the Museum 2 to look forward to! weeeee~

A Passing.

I was having lunch with my mates, when dad called up on my mobile. Apparently, a close relative of my father had just passed away in the afternoon, and the body will be laid to rest at Lim Chu Kang at about 4 in the evening.

My family was the first to arrive by car, followed by the majority on the bus. An eerie silence covered the burial grounds, and I had difficulty adjusting to the peace after having screamed at by the bike for much of the journey there. It was my first time attending a funeral in the new burial system, and I was rather impressed by it. The plots are already pre-dug, and pre-fab concrete used extensively to save space (I think).

Alhamdulillah, everything went along just fine, and it was a simple affair.

Although a family member has just passed away, I got to know that my cousin who got married quite recently is pregnant. The old, will have to make way for the new. Death is inevitable.

Rest in peace Nyai Satirah.

Al-Fateha.

Left 4 Dead.

You guys should check this game out on the Windows platform...

Its been a long time since I got seriously addicted to a particular game, the last one being Warcraft III. Left 4 Dead is a First-Person-Shooter that place much emphasis on teamwork, hand-eye coordination and cooperation. The working together aspect of the game brings a sense of achievement when the 4 characters manage to escape together, alive and well.

Been playing this game a lot with my mates in school, and we've created quite a formidable partnership, and are now able to complete a campaign rather easily on advanced mode. We've yet to try the expert mode though. =)

Go check it out!

You are My Sunshine.

If it ain't you, I don't want it.

Sunshine through my window
That's what you are
My shining star
Sunshine
Making me feel
I'm on top of the world
Telling me I'll go far

You are the calm
I am the storm
You are the breeze that carries me on
When I set adrift
You wink at me
You're there for me

Fixing the Aunt's Computer. Part III.

Operation Fixing the Aunt's Computer is complete!

At a grand total of SGD$375, this fix is pretty much straightforward. Less the troubleshooting part. It was difficult finding the root of the problem, but looking at the age of the motherboard (5 years), the CPU (5 years), power supply unit, (5 years) and the graphics card (6 years), it was more or less time to replace everything.

In the end, I got these...

1) Graphics Card - SGD$73, 2 years, Powercolor HD4350 DDR2
2) Power Supply Unit - SGD$69, 5 years, Asustek450W Z-45FP True Power
3) CPU - SGD$99, 3 years, E5200 2.5GHz
4) Motherboard - SGD $95, 3 years, MSI G31M3-F
5) RAM - SGD $39, lifetime, PC-6400/800 Kingston DDR2 CL5 2GB

Shiok or what, 5 years warranty for power supply! I immediately jumped when I heard it was 5 years. Longer warranty means, the manufacturer is confident with their product quality, they're willing to go 5 years for it! heheh.

Now, time to return the computer to its rightful owner.... Tadaaaa...

Oh Muslimah.

The following was taken from Wadi Insyirah. This post is written in malay, and I would like to apologise to my non-malay readers beforehand. Essentially, it is a poem written about the ideal traits of a Muslimah followed by a verse in Surah An-Noor. ENJOY!

MUSLIMAH YANG DIRINDUI
Adalah perempuan yang dimata dan wajahnya...
Terpancar sinar Nur Ilahi...
Lidahnya basah dengan zikrullah...
Di sudut hati kecilnya...
Sentiasa membesarkan Allah...

MUSLIMAH YANG DICINTAI
Yang menutup auratnya...
Dari pandangan mata ajnabi...
Kehormatan dirinya menjadi mahal nilainya...
Di sanjung tinggi...
Penduduk langit dan bumi...

MUSLIMAH YANG DIIMPIKAN
Adalah yang mendekatkan...
Hatinya yang telah jauh...
Kepada AR-Rahman, AR-Rahim...
Di saat orang lain dilamar kebendaan...

MUSLIMAH YANG DIKASIHI
Yang bersyukur dengan apa yang ada...
Yang bersabar pada yang tiada...
Cinta pada hidup yang sederhana...
Yang tidak bermata benda...

MUSLIMAH YANG DISUKAI
Menjadi dian pada dirinya sendiri...
Menjadi pelita untuk putera-puterinya...
Yang bakal dilahirkan...
Untuk menyambung perjuangannya di belakang hari...

( An-Noor, Chapter #24, Verse #26)

How Did Your Relationship Begin?

I always envisioned a perfect start to meeting my life partner. A start so beautiful, you would think that the both of you were match-made in heaven and it is a story that you would proudly tell your children, your grandchildren, and to your great-grandchildren.

I would be walking to the nearby store and then came this lady who needed help carrying her stuff at the same time chasing after her younger brother who freed himself from her grasp and ran off. And I would be there in the nick of time, to pick up the mischievous boy and the overflowing groceries and save the day. She would say "Thank you, Mr......" And I would pick up from where she left, "Wise Guy." And then what happens next is the subject of fairy tales.

Or maybe I would be at the mosque doing my prayers, and when I was just about done with praying, a lady asks me for directions to the female prayers section. Like she was an angel sent from above, she would plop right into my arms, and I'd sweep her off her feet to eternal bliss. Chey! Unfortunately for me, I attract the wrong kind of attention, and the ladies who approach me are either too old, or too young. When I say old, they're REALLY old. And when I say young, they're like toddlers and kindergaten kids!

OKAY, this doesn't mean I'm into ladies wearing the tudung!

After hearing a dozen stories from successful marriages, a perfect start is highly unlikely. Some got entangled in a love triangle, some had to make use of somebody else in order to achieve what they want, some met in the club and there are some who have their marriages simply arranged by their parents. There are some who broke off and patched up after a few years of not seeing each other, and there are some who had to marry because the baby needs a father.

I just hope I have a wonderful story to tell my children... How did yours begin?

Fixing the Aunt's Computer. Part II.

Bought the motherboard, RAM, and voila! The computer is still running my ancient 30GB Maxtor hard disk! Popped in a Seagate 80GB IDE Harddisk I salvaged from another computer and we're ready to rumble...

Wait.

I forgot something! Aunt's LCD Screen only accepts DVI input and the motherboard only has VGA output. =( How can I be so forgetful. Haiz. Back to Sim Lim tomorrow to get a graphics card. On another note, I didn't know RAMs are getting smaller in size. They're somewhat shorter.

Anyways, I think I'm gonna get this:

Graphics Card - SGD$75 Powercolor HD4350 DDR2

Just something simple to power out the DVI signal, play some DVDs and simple games. Can't wait to strike this project off my to-do list. Ahhhh! I've still got another computer to fix. But that one can wait since the customer is always busy. Forever busy.

I think I'm gonna be busy too. With that Banana girl. heeeheee

Fixing the Aunt's Computer.

Got some free time after the wedding banquet, and because I've got so much things pending, I decide to clear Aunt's computer from the to-do list. Opened the semi-rusty casing to reveal a 5-year-old motherboard, powered by a rustic Pentium 4, 2.26GHz CPU.

It refused to power up, back at her house, and it still refused to start after I changed the Power Supply, took out the RAM, reset the BIOS and removed the graphics card. Guess there ain't much to it, and because it is an old motherboard anyways, I think its time to replace it with a new one!

And........... I think I'm gonna get her these later at Sim Lim.

Motherboard - SGD $194 MSI G31M3-F
RAM - SGD $39 PC-6400/800 Kingston DDR2 CL5 2GB

I think I'm gonna opt not to buy the graphics card since aunt doesn't do much graphics rendering nor she plays games... Or does she? heeeheee... Bet she's smiling when she reads this post. If there's a need, we can always get her one later.

The thing about me is, I hate to overkill my fixes. There's the ultimate gratification at the end of the day when I fix a computer, within budget or even under it, and at the same time, the customer is happy with the results. But on the other hand, I LOVE building gaming rigs for my friends who have pockets as deep as the Grand Canyon.

The fix is not over yet, so I can't strike it off the list. But at least I'm onto solving it.

Tomorrow, a date with Boon Siew at Bukit Timah...
Lunch date with BBB...
Dinner date with me, Myself and Irene at Sim Lim...

I love it when my day is planned out!

So Many Things to Do, So Little Time.

Whoa! I thought with the exams over and done, I would have more time to do my own things. But apparently, I get even busier! I hope this busy-ness continues only for another 4 weeks due to the project, and thereafter, I can start looking for a part-time job. Hmmm... What is it that keeps me busy?

My aunt's computer is still sitting behind me, unattended for the past two days. Waiting to be diagnosed, to troubleshoot. And I got a Honda Wave odometer in my cupboard to tinker with and attempt to reset so I can save SGD$120. On top of that, I have yet to clean my room and sort out my past semester notes. I wanna hang out with friends. And most importantly, I need to focus my attention on a cutie pie I'm slowly falling for. Gotta treat her right and stop abusing her.

Ahhhh! Freelance project to start a website has to be put on hold. OMG, putting a $300 project on hold? What's wrong with me? I need the money and I need more hours in a day! But on the brighter side of things, tuition is starting again and with that, comes less money worries! YEY!

Tomorrow, is another busy day. Its mother's day, I've got a wedding banquet to attend, a birthday cake to collect and oh well, a Ben & Jerry's date with the schoolmates. If only there is a way I could be at two places at one time.

Bike inspection due! Bike insurance expiring! And I got a date with Boon Siew on Monday morning!

OH MY GOD.

Champions League Final 2009.

With Manchester United thrashing Arsenal 4-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals and Barcelona overcoming Chelsea with an away goal, the finals are set on the 27th May 2009 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

VERSUS

The 72,689-capacity stadium has been one of Europe's most impressive sporting venues for over 70 years, hosting the 1960 Olympics and the 1987 IAAF World Championships in Athletics as well as the final of the 1990 FIFA World Cup and those three European Cup finals. Liverpool FC twice became continental champions in Rome, in 1977 and 1984, while Juventus won the 1996 UEFA Champions League at the Olimpico.

I can't wait to see Manchester United thrash Barcelona in the finals and become the first side to ever retain the Champions League title! heheh...

Teddy Bear.

I love teddy bears.

I remembered my first teddy bear was the one on the extreme right. Yeap, its a Care Bear! Aren't they just cute and cuddly? And I can fondly recall twirling the small clump of hair on its head whenever I can't sleep. Oh and not forgetting taking advantage of its super-hard love shaped nose when I clobber my younger brother when we get into an argument. heheh

Teddy bears are perceived to be cute, cuddly, warm and just adorable. There's just something about teddy bears that makes you feel safe, secure and loved. If you have one, try looking at it in the eyes. Its the cutest thing! It could be a physical substitute of someone, and for that, I think it makes a nice gift for Valentine's, a birthday, or just an anniversary. Just the next best thing when you can't have the real one, and I think every deserving lady should get one from her man.

This is kinda random, but did you know that the teddy bear is named after the American President, Theodore Roosevelt?

Has anyone tried creating your own Teddy Bear? I heard its quite dear to make one over at the Build-A-Bear workshop. I didn't quite take note of the price, but I remember walking in, and then walking out promptly because of the price tag. And guess what I found on Google? The world's most expensive Teddy Bear! OMG. Mouth made out of solid gold, fur made of gold thread and eyes out of sapphire and diamonds! It costs a whopping £43,000!

Whatever the price of your teddy bear, I'm sure it gives you comfort in your sleep... XOXO!

Missing You.

I wished the holidays didn't pass by so fast...

I was just beginning to enjoy myself. Urgh! Back to project!
