Have you ever come across the fat girl in school whom people avoided because they are generally afraid that they will be the subject of her latest gossips? She's like the girl who is oh-so-perfect and full of herself, she's unconcerned about simple things like, watching her diet for instance? And at night, she would whine to her brainwashed boyfriend about the latest gossips, and goes along spreading the rumours with her.

I term this girl, the Queen of Bitching, or QoB. There are QoBs everywhere we go. I remember in every stage of my schooling life, there had to be one girl I had to avoid at all costs. In primary school, secondary school, polytechnic and now, even in university. And in all cases, she's a fat, ugly, bitch. Their tongues are like the trap door that sends you to hell. Once the mouth opens, its hard to stop it as she will persevere to ensure that each and every one of the people in her social circle, gets hold of the news.

QoBs resides in the heartlands. (There are some atas QoBs who live in landed property) She is generally too caught up messing about with people's lives, she forgets to care about her own. She would rummage through each and every poor soul's dirty laundry, excavate and extricate every detail of a broken relationship and at times, direct insults be it direct or indirect to her targets.

QoBs spend a lot of money. They spend a lot on things which keep them happy such as food, travelling, retail theraphy, and did I mention food? Expectantly, they don't earn as much as they spend and are reliant on their daddy, boyfriend, or husband for funds.

QoBs tak sedar diri. I remembered hearing this particular QoB bitching about another girl of her size. She mentioned something about the girl being whiny, fat, clingy, and too dependant. All I could do was look at her and smiled at her petty remarks. One look, and you know that whatever that came out of her sinful mouth, isn't true.

QoBs have a tight immediate social circle. It is important to recognise who their closest friends are and avoid them equally. These people are only a QoB level slightly lower and the news spreading transmission rate between them is highly efficient. Avoid them like you would avoid potholes while riding.

QoBs are messy eaters. You might see this as an opportunity to bank on their weakness. But no, please do not. Always treat them better than they would treat you. Offer them a wet tissue, and tell them to wipe the mess off their stupid face before you lose your patience. Of which, upon losing it, you offer her a tight slap. That should do the job.

QoBs are wasteful people. They order so much food, they can't finish it up. Or they would go driving round and round in the wee hours of the morning to nowhere, and defended themselves by saying "At least I drove around in a Green car!"

Beware, just like the terrorists, the QoBs have matured and has come up with various disguises. They may not follow the description as stated above. A select few QoBs are well-mannered, attractive and eat with a fork and a spoon. Prevention is better than cure.

I wish my readers all the best in walking the tight rope of life. Gossips destroys people and if you are ever guilty of gossiping, stop, drop, and roll into the seven levels of hell. =) Ciaoz!

An Invitation to the Truth. What the Qur'an Says about Liars and their Methods.

First and foremost, the following are from this amazing site... Please visit this lovely site and give them the support they deserve!

http://www.harunyahya.com/liar1.php

---
The great majority of people claim that they are virtuous, have a strong morality, do not harm others, and have no bad characteristics. Unfortunately, the reality is somewhat different, for the vast majority of people have some bad moral aspects that Allah has forbidden because they are displeasing to Him. However, these aspects are not regarded as bad or ugly, because they are widespread in the community and thus considered normal. For example, Allah forbids gossip and even compares it to eating your dead brother's flesh. (Surat al-Hujurat, 49:12) In spite of this, when a group of people come together, they gossip about others. Even television programs and magazines provide space for gossip.

However, people who do not consider that lying is forbidden immediately resort to lies to protect themselves whenever they find themselves in a difficult position. Maybe at that moment they rescue themselves from what really is a difficult position, or believe that they have done so, but, as unrepentant and dishonest people, they will be held responsible for their lie in the afterlife.

Allah tells us in the following verse that those who do not believe in the Qur'an's verses are liars:

Those who do not believe in Allah's Signs are merely inventing lies. It is they who are the liars. (Surat an-Nahl, 16:105)

Perhaps you have heard people reply, when asked if they ever lie, that they certainly do not lie, but that they see nothing wrong with telling "white lies" when necessary.

People who do not follow the Qur'an's morality apply rules according to their own opinion and those of the people around them, and in such a way that their own interests are met in all matters. For example, they admit that theft is sinful but say that it is not sinful if the thief steals out of necessity. Some people who know that gambling is forbidden go ahead and gamble anyway, but believe that it is acceptable because they give their winnings to the poor. However, those who heed Allah and guard against evil do nothing that displeases Him or that He has forbidden. The same is true of lying. Those who try to call lying by another name to soften its meaning may convince other people, but Allah has forbidden people to lie, and that includes white lies.

A Day to Remember.

I was all ready to go home, when my stomach ached, and I had no choice but to stop at Caltex. I tried hard to control it and my pillion asked, "Why are you in a rush?" Acted cool and shrugged it off. I will never forget that tense period! haha!

Words From a Successful Man.

Do you spend $5,000 fixing a broken down car which continues to depreciate in value year after year, or prefer spending $5,000 buying a new car every few years and not bothered about changing its tyres, going for oil checks and whatnots?

Words of wisdom like these, inspire me to think out of the box... I swear everytime I talk to this guy, I feel like making a million tomorrow! Its like those Multi Level Marketing motivational talks that I attend, only more real and individual.

Manchester United Get More Injury Time on Average.

Has it ever come across your mind that somehow, Manchester United always get some extra 'extra time' when they need it the most? Like for example just last weekend, in the Manchester City derby, Craig Bellamy scored the what was thought to be the "last gasp" goal only to be nicked by Michael Own in the real "last gasp" goal? heheh.

Think no further, have a look at this article written by Daniel Taylor of the Guardian, titled, Revealed: Manchester United get more injury time when they need it. In 48 games when United were ahead, the average amount of stoppage time was 191.35 seconds. In 12 matches when United were drawing or losing there was an average of 257.17sec. How cool are these statistics?

So the next time Manchester United plays, have a look at the time allocated for "extra time" and see if this is true!

Day 29. Last Day. Last Day.

I still remember my days in the School of Supply and Transport, in times like these, the password would be "Last Day." The oh so lovely words to hear after a 14 day ops, the heart skips a beat everytime we utter those 2 words. But in the case of Ramadhan, the last day brings about a certain indescribable sadness, that marks the end of a month of generous blessings from the Almighty, and signals the start of Syawal.

I surpassed my initial objectives in Ramadhan and I gotta say, I'm proud of myself. I helped the people around me, I buka-ed at home most of the time, and generally, the month has been a feel-good month (although I lagged 3 tutorials because of insufficient rest). As a whole, I'm just glad I am indeed becoming a useful member of society who contributes. =) Because there is no point in living, if you do not play your role as a member of a team (i.e. the community).

There is a saying (heard this in a Tazkirah somewhere) that goes, "Those who are close to God, are those who are close to his community."
Alright, lets put all that nonsense one side. I am no perfect muslim. lol. Dang, I watched the Mat Motor Srikandi version, and that show really softened me up la~ A couple of biker chicks go on a mission to save Ramadhan and in this episode, they help to raise money for dialysis treatment! Cool or what. They even managed to rope in NTUC, Ribena and a brother (rock lah lu bro!) who owns a dendeng stall to help out. lol. They should ask Sheng Shiong to help out la like seriously. This year Sheng Shiong went all out to capture the Hari Raya market and boy did they do a good job marketing themselves! Remember not to judge a book by its cover and they totally upped their market value by going on the show. Biker chicks are gonna be so hot in Singapore after this. :P

What does Syawal mean to me? Oh well, Syawal basically means that I am very very close to my quizzes. Syawal means the floodgates of food are opened. And Syawal means visiting relatives and friends. Syawal also mean that my friends who magically become pious in the month of Ramadhan will stop their showboating and get back to their real selves.

Terawih terkejar-kejar, solat Wajib tak buat.

So yeah, in a few hours time, we'll be off visiting relatives. It has been great counting the days in Ramadhan with you guys, and I hope I get to see all my friends in their natural habitat pretty soon!

To all my lovely readers, (those who deserve special mention are: Daisy Sue, B3n34, ArcticGal, Salina, NutsNadz) who love me, hate me, adores me, despise me, miss me, sick of me...

I would like to wish you,

SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI!

Day 28. Rainy Day.

Woke up to the pitter patter of rain, and what a world of a difference! The past few days have been hot and humid, and its a refreshing change definitely. Woke up late and as usual, made it just in time for lecture. Call me crazy, but I enjoy slow riding in the rain. =p (Raincoat on)

A nice, cool, slow ride to school... Ahhhh...

Day 27. A Happy Day.

Even the smallest of things can make me happy (or angry). And it comes to no surprise that I'm feeling very happy today with the way so many things fall into place beautifully. I think Ramadhan is a good month, and there is never a shortage of blessings from the Almighty this year. =)

On another note, I just lost 100 plots of Raspberries which seemed to have withered before I could harvest them. DANG! Think I lost a thousand coins because of that mistake and it pays to choose a crop which takes a bit more time to grow. After clearing the raspberries, I planted Pumpkins which takes about 8 hours to grow. Ahhh... Maybe I can harvest them right after Sahur. :P

Now I can't wait for them to ripen so I can harvest those Pumpkins! heeee~

Day 26. Farmville.

Facebook is a real time waster, and if you were to go to iHub on a normal day, 50% of the computers have facebook on. And it is a surprise that Facebook was only a small project for an MIT student. But who cares anyway...

I just started to play Farmville and its damn cute la. Planted some strawberries and ploughed some land. heh. Cute graphics, and a chance to personalise my farm. Call me crazy, but I can't wait to sell my strawberries when its fully grown! =P

Next up, I'm gonna see what else I can put in that colourful farm of mine. Maybe grow some raspberries in the future? Cool la~

Why wait? Come be my neighbour!

Day 25. Bed & Breakfast.

Hari Raya is just around the corner and its the first time I'm getting bedsheets on my own! Yeah yeah, IKEA stuff. This time around, I sourced for something not-so-boring and unlike myself, and thus decided to get a red quilt cover to add some colour to the room. Red brings warmth to my already black furnitures.

heh.

So tadaaaa!
Photobucket

Coco took to the new colours like ducks to water!

Day 24. Pissed TTM.

In every argument, be it big or small, it is so frustrating when the other party just doesn't get the point. And it keeps occurring too often, I start to wonder if the other party is even interested to hear what I have to say.

And just like HDD recovery, I think I'm wasting my time.

Day 22. 22" LCD Screen.

I got myself an LCD screen just a few hours back, and I am one satisfied customer!

Bought the Full HD LG W2261V LCD Screen at SGD$258. I'm not sure if its a steal but from my ground recce, I think it is one of the best bang for buck monitor over at the show. It comes with an Analog Input, DVI Input and HDMI. Cool! Now all I need is a DVD player with HDMI output! Weeee~
I was tempted to go for the Acer 23" LCD Screen going at SGD$249. I was critical of the Acer price because from what I see, the built looked cheap as compared to the LG which has a Samsung look-alike reflective plastic finish to it. And when I looked closer, the screen belong to the Acer X Series and not to the multimedia series and thus, I suspected a difference in performance.

I was thinking to myself, how come the Acer staff is showing only static pictures in its live demo, while LG had some DVDs playing on its screens. Dang, LG looked wayyy better in my opinion and it helps to have both booths nearby. Furthermore, the Acer had a response time of 5ms, while LG had 2ms. I shuttled between the booths for a few times, making sure that the extra $9 I'm going to pay for a smaller screen is worth it. After much thought and grilling salespersons from both sides, I decided to go for the LG.

Man, I'm not regretting it one bit. I've got a better looking monitor, my images are crisp, and at least the monitor matches with the colour of my desk and speakers. lolx! Talk about aesthetics!

Day 19. Some People.

Just don't care about others.

Maybe I should too.

Day 18. Fallen Murthabas.

Ahhhh! Murthabas fell out of the torn plastic bag!!!

Anyways, had a great time riding. Rempit-tified all the way... =) SUKA!

Day 16. Are You Being Served?

This fasting month has been a real test of patience, especially when you're eating out. Personally, I try my best not to eat out without a reservation because that means waiting in line for an hour plus, in a hungry state, and generally, its never good to be in that position when you are fasting. Just yesterday, I saw the queue at Pizza and I went, "FUIYO!". It was as long as a single MRT carriage. I can't believe people actually get into line, with hopes that they get a seat for breakfast and Are You Being Served well?. As the saying goes, "A Hungry Man, is an Angry Man."

Unfortunately, even when the table has been reserved, and all possible worse case scenario taken care of, there are the odd restaurants that are not up to standard. There are some eateries which take an hour plus to serve. That means, we only get to break our fast at 8pm, and if you're hosting a gathering, it doesn't reflect so greatly on your planning. Singapore Customer Service .. Share Your Story, have you experienced a great or not-so-great experience?

Click the link above to make yourself heard! The Are You Being Served blog is a site that compiles experiences, and they even have a group of people, who randomly place staff in various customer service scenarios, and subsequently rates and comment about the outcome.

Okay, maybe they are testing the service of the staff and rating them. But if you ask me, I don't think its fair for customers to expect 101% all the time. They are human, and like everyone, they have feelings. Who knows they're going through a break-up and just feeling very shitty? Spare a thought for service staff too aites, and make this world a better place. =)

Day 12. The Effects of Lack of Sleep.

Pushing oneself to the limit can be damaging. And in the case of lack of sleep, the results can be detrimental in many aspects. The world never sleeps. Banks are open 24/7 via e-banking, 7-eleven operates 365 days a year, and somewhere someplace out there, there is someone playing poker on Facebook. heh. =)

What are the effects of lack of sleep? If you ask me, there are many. From my experience, I get moody when I do not get enough sleep. My sense of alertness goes down and my situational awareness drops. This makes driving/riding very dangerous and back in the army, driving at 50km/h for 3 hours straight after going for 4 days without sleep, a very scary experience. When I do not get enough sleep, I can't focus on the task at hand. Voices seems so distant, and I cannot fully comprehend what I'm doing. As a result, the lack of sleep has a negative impact.

What do experts have to say about the lack of sleep?

"Lack of sleep disrupts every physiologic function in the body," said Eve Van Cauter of the University of Chicago. "We have nothing in our biology that allows us to adapt to this behavior."

"The strongest evidence out there right now is for the risk of overall mortality, but we also see the association for a number of specific causes," said Sanjay R. Patel of Harvard Medical School, who led one of the studies, involving more than 82,000 nurses, that found an increased risk of death among those who slept less than six hours a night. "Now we're starting to get insights into what's happening in the body when you don't get enough sleep."

"Based on our findings, we believe that if you lose sleep that your body needs, then you produce these inflammatory markers that on a chronic basis can create low-grade inflammation and predispose you to cardiovascular events and a shorter life span," said Alexandros N. Vgontzas of Pennsylvania State University, who recently presented data at a scientific meeting indicating that naps can help counter harmful effects of sleep loss.

"Melatonin can prevent tumor cells from growing -- it's cancer-protective," said Eva S. Schernhammer of Harvard Medical School, who has conducted a series of studies on volunteers in sleep laboratories. "The theory is, if you are exposed to light at night, on average you will produce less melatonin, increasing your cancer risk."

"This adds to the growing evidence that sleep deprivation among medical residents significantly impairs their ability to perform, although it is important to note that we did not assess performance on specific medical tasks," says J. Todd Arnedt, PhD, a sleep psychologist who is a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry and neurology at the U-M Medical School. Arnedt works in the the U-M Sleep Disorders Center and the U-M Depression Center Sleep & Chronophysiology Laboratory.

5 out of 5 has something negative to say about the lack of sleep. So dear readers, ensure that you have enough sleep, so that you can live a long and productive life!

Day 11. The Issue of Being So Close Yet So Far.

I have nothing in mind to blog about, so here it goes, from me to you after my sahur, gunning away on the keyboard with hopes that my fingers can put what is in my mind, into text. Tickety ticketey tack. The mind hasn't been particularly stable these past few days no thanks to certain occurrences and whatnots. Nevertheless, the focal point of today's post will be "So Close Yet so Far."

Have you been so close to a finishing line, only to fall short of it? At times, even being dragged away from your ultimate finish? It is okay to fall short of the finishing line, we can get over it. But to come to a realisation that we're dragged away? That's a bit too much. I promised to keep my anger in check this Ramadhan, but I couldn't take it yesterday. I felt like I was about to blow up like a bomb. As a result, all the harsh words, sarcasm and whatevers start to flow out like water. To think I've only got 18 more days to go. That's slightly less than halfway there! Urgh...
Sad. One 'Ramadhan Resolution' struck off. And I'm still pissed. I've never been this pissed in my life before. fo shizzle.

Have you ever wished you'd opened the other door, instead of the one you walked through? Damn, I wished I did. But as to most cases, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. There I see the door, longingly sitting down there, waiting for someone to open it.

Okay that was totally out of context. Time to head to bed now. 3 hour lecture marathon is up later!
